Zelensky: Elon Musk Promises More Starlink Receivers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he spoke to Elon Musk, chief executive of space company SpaceX, last weekend.

He announced that the country would get more receivers to use broadband internet via Musk’s satellite network Starlink.

“I talked to Elon Musk. I am grateful to him for supporting Ukraine with words and deeds,” Zelensky tweeted. Musk said on Thursday that Starlink was the only non-Russian communications system still working in some parts of Ukraine after the Russian invasion.

At the end of February, Musk enlisted Starlink for the war-ravaged country. The system uses satellites, so ground cables are not necessary. However, a receiver is required.

SpaceX has now launched 1,900 satellites into orbit for the service. With this, Musk’s company wants to be able to offer broadband internet in remote areas.
