Yellen: Rich Countries Should Help Poor Countries With Vaccines

Richer country governments must help poorer countries access vaccines to stop the corona pandemic.

This is what the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a letter to the members of the G20, a group of wealthy industrial countries.

In all efforts to get the world economy back on the road to recovery, according to the minister, it is first of all important that the virus is stopped.

“A rapid and truly global vaccination program is the strongest boost we can give the global economy,” she emphasizes.

According to Yellen, it is also important that governments continue to support their own economies.

In this way, a kind of bridging is arranged to help countries through the corona crisis. The US central bank’s former head warns that countries should not end their support policies too soon.
