Twitter No Longer Tries to Stop Disinformation About Covid
Since November 23, Twitter is no longer been taking on disinformation around the Coronapandemie. As a result, accounts that distribute disinformation are no longer blocked, and messages with disinformation are no longer deleted.
This announces Twitter in his Transparency Report. “As of November 23, 2022, Twitter no longer maintains the COVID-19 policy on misleading information,” the company reports. Further explanation about the decision will not be taken.
In recent years, Twitter deleted 11,000 accounts that repeatedly spread wrong and dangerous information about the virus.
The new CEO Elon Musk previously announced that freedom of expression must play an important role on Twitter. However, whether the decision on disinformation regarding COVID is related to this is unclear.
Musk has previously reversed various measures that were taken under the reign of the previous owners. Think of lifting the suspension of many accounts that have been banned earlier.
