Trump Wants to Celebrate the Appointment of Chief Justice At the White House

US President Trump wants to celebrate the expected appointment of ‘his’ Chief Justice Amy Coney Barrett with an outdoor party at the White House.

The intention is to keep as much distance as possible at the meeting, according to a White House spokesman.

The party follows the vote on Barrett later this Monday in the Senate. There is expected to be a majority in favour of Trump’s conservative candidate. She then becomes one of the nine justices of the influential Supreme Court.

The previous event around Barrett turned out to be a super spreader of the coronavirus.

Trump held a meeting at the White House in late September to announce his choice of Barrett, with virtually no one keeping their distance or wearing a face mask.

Shortly afterwards, the president and others present were found to be infected with corona. Trump had to go to hospital for three days.
