Russia Examines Italian Proposal for Peace With Ukraine

The Kremlin is studying an Italian proposal for a peace settlement between Russia and Ukraine.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said, according to the RIA Novosti news agency, that the country will only respond to the recently received peace plans after they have been thoroughly reviewed.

According to the Italian newspaper Repubblica, it concerns a four-point plan that focuses on a ceasefire, a neutral Ukraine with international security guarantees and possible membership of the European Union, a separate settlement between Moscow and Kyiv for the territorial disputes and the establishment of a new European Security Treaty.

Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Manlio Di Stefano has confirmed that such an Italian plan has been prepared and submitted to the United Nations.

Italy is one of the western countries trying to bring the war in Ukraine to an end through mediation. Israel and Turkey also regularly knock on Kyiv and Moscow to persuade them to stop fighting.
