Prime Minister Johnson Apologizes After Garden Party During Lockdown
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has apologized for a party in the garden of his official residence during the corona lockdown.
He did so in parliament, where the opposition called for the “liar” to resign. Conservative party members of the prime minister had demanded clarification.
According to Johnson, it was a “work meeting.” He referred to the ongoing investigation into possible illegal gatherings of government employees during the lockdown.
The scandal surrounding several corona parties has now become called ‘party gate’. Johnson has survived multiple scandals and missteps, including allegations of corruption, since becoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in July 2019.
He is also struggling with a rebellion within the Conservatives about his corona policy. Recently, there was also the loss of a conservative stronghold in by-elections and the resignation of Brexit minister Frost out of dissatisfaction with government policy.
