Officially One Million Corona Deaths in the United States

The death toll from the corona pandemic in the United States officially stands at one million. The White House announced that tragic milestone after having reached more than two years on Thursday.

President Joe Biden expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.

The president believes that the government must remain vigilant during this pandemic to save many lives. It is critical, Biden says, that Congress continues to support and promote treatments, tests and vaccines.

At the beginning of February, the limit of 900,000 corona deaths in the US was exceeded. Since then, the average number of deaths per day has fallen sharply. However, the total death toll is probably many times higher because not everyone has been tested for the coronavirus in the past two years.

There have been 22,000 corona-related deaths in the Netherlands so far. On average, three people a day still die here with Covid-19.
