NATO Boss Stoltenberg Wants Top Job in Home Country
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg is aiming for a top position in his home country of Norway. The former prime minister hopes to become the head of the Norwegian Central Bank.
“The Ministry of Finance approached me in November to ask if I would like to apply for that position,” Stoltenberg told NTB news agency. “I’ve done that now. I’m very motivated.”
The Secretary General of NATO is not the only candidate. More than twenty people have come forward.
The economist Stoltenberg has held all kinds of top positions, including Prime Minister of Norway and Minister of Finance.
Since 2014, he has headed NATO, an alliance of which the Netherlands is also a member. His current tenure as NATO chief executive runs until the end of September next year.
