Worldwide, more than 150 million infections have been registered since the start of the corona pandemic. The French news agency AFP has calculated this.

The worldwide daily figure has more than doubled since mid-February. About 821,000 infections are now diagnosed every day. The United States has had the most corona patients to date, with 32.2 million infections identified. This is followed by India (18.8 million) and Brazil (14.6 million).

India is currently facing a severe second wave, with more than 300,000 new cases reported daily. According to AFP, Asia is, therefore, the continent where the coronavirus spreads the fastest. The number of diagnosed corona infections has increased by 28 percent compared to a week earlier.

Africa is the only other continent where the number of infections is increasing, but it is only an increase of 3 percent. The situation has stabilized in Latin America and the Caribbean. According to AFP, in Europe and the United States, this is a decrease of 18 and 12 percent, respectively.

According to figures from the French news agency, nearly 3.2 million corona-related deaths have been reported worldwide.
