Italy Sees the Number of Corona Cases Increase Further
Italy sees the number of corona cases continue to rise. In the past 24 hours, the country registered 37,978 new infections compared to 32,961 on Wednesday, the health ministry said Thursday.
The ministry also reported 636 deaths from the coronavirus, up from 623 the day before. It is the highest figure since April 6.
The total number of infections in Italy since the virus first came to light in February now stands at 1,066 million, while 43,589 people have now died as a result of the coronavirus.
The northern region of Lombardy, centred on Milan, Italy’s financial capital, remained the worst affected area on Thursday, reporting 9291 new cases, compared to Wednesday’s 8,180.
