German Politics Wants to Gradually Re-Open Catering From 9 May
After the forced closure in mid-March due to the corona crisis, German politicians want to gradually re-open the catering industry from 9 May.
For tourists, beds should be available again from the end of May.
The plan comes from the sixteen German states. Their ministers of Economic Affairs made their efforts clear in a video meeting with the German Minister of Economic Affairs.
The opening in steps, which lasts until May 22, is accompanied by all kinds of regulations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
It is about hygiene, distance and protection of the controls.
Some federal states had already announced that they would open the catering industry on their own if necessary. They think it all takes too long.
Initially, May 18 was still under discussion as the opening date. The federal states will discuss their plan with Chancellor Merkel on Wednesday.
