Death Toll Rises to 59 Victims Due to Heavy Rainfall in South Africa

At least 59 people have been killed in the hefty rainfall in South Africa’s coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal. That reports Sihle Zikalala, the prime minister of the province.

The figures have not yet been confirmed, as many people are still missing.

The army has been mobilized for disaster relief. However, rescue work is difficult because many roads have been washed away. In addition, the situation on site is difficult to estimate because cell towers for mobile communication are offline.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa plans to visit the flooded areas on Wednesday.
