Countries Stop Sending Post Mail to China Due to Coronavirus
The cancellation of flights to China due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus has affected the postal services to that country.
Sending letters and parcels to China from at least eight countries will be stopped, the Universal Postal Union said Wednesday.
Switzerland, Denmark, Georgia, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Singapore and Spain have announced that they will stop deliveries to China.
“We are following the situation closely and working with postal companies to overcome these obstacles hopefully,” said the Universal Postal Union, which is responsible for the postal network in 192 countries.
“This is not just a mail issue, but a major trade issue.”
The Chinese postal service previously said it was safe to accept mail from China because coronaviruses “do not survive long on objects”.
