China Gives New Death Toll to Document All Cases
The new death toll from the coronavirus published by China on Friday has been done to “not leave any case undocumented”.
That says Maria van Kerkhove of the World Health Organization (WHO).
China reported on Friday that another 1,290 deaths have occurred in the city of Wuhan from the coronavirus, but they have not yet been recorded.
It would be deaths where, for example, the doctor did not complete the papers correctly.
According to Kerkhove, China had re-checked all figures from the period when the outbreak peaked there. For example, the number of funerals, deaths in care homes and prisons was examined.
The death toll in China, where the outbreak began in Wuhan city, stands at 4,632. According to official figures, few deaths have occurred in recent days.
