Cheney Voted Out of Important Republican Party Office
Republican Member of the House of Representatives Liz Cheney has been voted out of office in the Republican Party.
She was the number three of her party in the lower house and was one of the group leaders there, but has now been voted out by supporters of former president Donald Trump.
Cheney is one of Trump’s most prominent critics within the party. She was one of the Republicans who voted for impeachment in January. Supporters of Trump within the party have now voted her out of her essential position.
In response, Cheney said the country actually needs a strong Republican Party. “I’m going to do everything I can to make sure Trump never becomes president again. It’s important that whoever gets elected is constitutional. We can’t let the lies of a dangerous former president hold us back.”
Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter is likely to be replaced by New York Deputy Elise Stefanik. She has the support of prominent Republicans like Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise.
