Boris Johnson Calls Chinese Oppression Uyghurs Terrible

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson calls China’s oppression against the Uyghurs in the country “terrible”.

The British Prime Minister is one of many world leaders who speak out against the mistreatment of the Muslim minority in China.

The 2022 Winter Olympics are in Beijing, and more and more human rights organizations are calling for a boycott of that event.

However, Johnson does not want to start on that. “Normally, we are not in favour of boycotting events. That is the policy of this government.”

About 12 million Uyghurs live in Xinjian province. According to the authorities, more than 1 million Uyghurs are locked up in “re-education camps”, where they receive training.

Human rights organizations and refugee Uyghurs say they are penal camps where people have to do slave labour and are tortured.
