Bloomberg: Twitter Held Talks About Clubhouse Annexation

Twitter has been in talks in recent months about a possible acquisition of Clubhouse, a group chat and audio feed app that is quickly gaining popularity. That says Bloomberg news agency based on insiders.

According to sources, Clubhouse would have been valued at approximately $ 4 billion in the talks, but negotiations about the intended annexation have already been cut off. It is not clear why. Representatives from Twitter and Clubhouse declined to comment.

Earlier it was announced that Clubhouse is aiming for a valuation of 4 billion dollars in a new investment round. After the interest of Twitter, the audio app has started the search for other investors who also think the company is worth so much.

A clubhouse is a social medium where people come together for group discussions on a specific theme or to listen to interviews. The app launched last year is currently only available to Apple users. Due to the corona crisis and the lockdowns, Clubhouse’s popularity has risen sharply. It helped that big names from Hollywood, and the corporate world quickly started using the app.

Twitter has now set up a competing service called Spaces. Again, users of the app can invite others to live audio calls. That Twitter function is currently still in a testing phase.
